Radio, Servos, Gyro and Power

I started by getting the servos ready. Link balls need loc-tite on the read nut.

Here you can see the mounting plates and rear blocks the self tapper go into. Use the rubber

mounts that come with the servo.

Making up the link rods with the correct tools helps !

Don't go by the book, instal the rudder servos first !!

Next the throttle servo.

Only after the rudder and throttle are fitted should you fit these two or you would never get the

blocks on the back of the rudder and throttle servos, try it !

As you can see above, the leads on these two come out just by the hex starter coupling,

you must tape the leads back and to the sides or one miss with the starter shaft

and the servos leads would need replacing !

See what I am saying now ?

Here is the last one to fit, the elevator servo, not easy to get the links onto !

I used the Align 2 in 1. A 6 amp BEC and Glow Starter all in one.

Here you see the BEC and just below the RX the 1900mah Li-Po battery.

(Always feed the aerial wire out in silicon fuel tube to protect it !!)

The ribbon from the BEC leads into this little board.

LEDS show the battery level and there is a push button switch (top left).

Once your ready to start the engine, just push the button, this will power the glow

for 15-20 sec and then turn off.

Should the engine not start just press it again !

Three more LEDS also tell you if the plug is short or open circuit or Ok.

The BEC gives 5.8 volts out, some tail servos like the 9254 etc should only be run on 5 volts.

Align sell this 5.1 volt regulator, connect it direct to the tail servo, then plug this into

the gyro where the tail servo connects.

My gryo has the control box/amp, I fitted both sides on the front tray with foam with

cut-outs each side, one for the Rx one for the gyro amp.

Velcro straps used to hold the Li-Po, gyro amp and Rx are all in the kit. Just below

you can see the red wire with clip that connects to the glow from the 2 in 1 unit.

Gyro fitted to gyro tray that I made, see Mods & Upgrades for details.
